Palace’s first summer signing Vicente Guaita has revealed that he chose the Eagles ahead of a number of other Premier League clubs who were battling to sign the Spanish shot-stopper.
Guaita penned a three-year deal at Selhurst Park and in his first interview as an Eagle, he revealed that after undertaking plenty of research on his new team, he felt that SE25 was where he wanted to start the next chapter in his career.
Speaking to Palace TV, he said: “I had several options to come to the Premier League, and one of them was Palace, which was in London, a great city and a place where my family will be comfortable.
“I asked people back in Spain that have been in the Premier League before and they said that I shouldn’t doubt it, that London was a great place and they encouraged me to join Crystal Palace, as it was a great team that I would really enjoy.
“I’m bringing the four years in Getafe with me as well as the other five in Valencia, and I want to keep going in that direction because in the end with hard work things end up going well. I’ll keep working to hopefully achieve beautiful things with Crystal Palace.”
