Kirby Recognised With Special Achievement Award

9 May 2018

As part of the club’s 2018 Awards, development midfielder Nya Kirby has been handed a Special Achievement Award for the part he played in helping England win the FIFA U17 World Cup back in October.

The 18-year-old played in six of the Three Lions’ seven games during the tournament in India, scoring the winning penalty in the last-16 shootout win against Japan to help pave the team’s way to the final, where he appeared as substitute as England thrashed Spain 5-2 to lift the trophy.

As well as starring at international level, Kirby featured 18 times for Palace’s under-23s side, scoring four goals as they won the Professional Development League South title, and also featured for the under-18s in the FA Youth Cup.

He was named as the winner by under-18s manager Paddy McCarthy at the club’s Boxpark Takeover event in Croydon.
