Lee Warms Up For World Cup in South Korea Win

29 May 2018

Chung-yong Lee started for South Korea as they began their preparations for the World Cup next month with a 2-0 win against Honduras in Daegu.

The Palace winger played the first 56 minutes of the game which the hosts dominated, but after taking a couple of knocks Lee was substituted and four minutes later Tottenham Hotspur striker Heung-min Son finally broke the deadlock.

12 minutes after that, Lee’s replacement Moon Seon-Min added a second to kick-off Korea’s preparations for the tournament, which continue on Friday when they host Bosnia and Herzegovina in Jeonju.

The following day will see their 28-man squad whittled down to 23, which is when Lee will discover if he is to travel to Russia to be part of his third World Cup tournament, where South Korea are drawn against Sweden, Mexico and Germany.
