Crystal Palace captain Luka Milivojevic spoke following his side's exiting of the FA Cup at the hands of Watford today, regretting that they no longer have the chance to take their fans to Wembley.
He said: "We think that we didn’t deserve to lose this game, I think we didn’t create a lot of chances but they didn’t as well. It's very disappointing especially because of our fans – we had a big wish to bring them to Wembley. I think the second goal was very cheap, we pushed at the end and had a few good chances but in the end we lost."
But the hosts did have to battle hard to stave off a visiting fightback, with Milivojevic at the core of a determined team that pushed with grit to pull themselves level again.
The Serbian found some positives to take, saying: "I think for most of the second half, we controlled. We had possession and we controlled, we played the most of the second half in their half of the pitch. As I said, maybe we didn’t create clear-cut chances but we had before Michy’s goal we had his chance, we had Max Meyer’s at the corner with his head, we had in the end Wan-Bissaka’s chance and a few more shots as well.
"As I said, today we conceded a very cheap goal in the second half that put us down. We tried in the end to change and to score one more to go to extra time but we didn’t have luck. I’m very disappointed, especially for the fans."
What now follows is a break for international football before returning focus to the Premier League, something the team and manager Roy Hodgson had always stated was their priority.
Milivojevic looked ahead to the upcoming spell and said: "It would be amazing if we won today and then had two weeks in a very good mood to prepare for our next eight games until the end of the season but what can we do?
"We cannot control that kind of thing, we lost today and now we are turning just to the Premier League. From these eight games, we have to try to take as much as we can and in the end to stay in the league and reach the best position."
