Surpassing Sir Bobby Robson on Wednesday as the oldest man to lead a Premier League club, today Hodgson is 71 years and 196 days old, four days older than Robson was on the day of his last game.
Speaking to the official Palace programme, Hodgson said on the achievement: "I’m wary of placing too much emphasis in terms of positivity on getting pats on the back because you’re old but I’ve got to be proud of the milestone.
"I feel more energetic, livelier and younger working here than I would if I wasn’t doing so!"
Hodsgon is now in his 43rd year of management, having led 20 clubs and countries in the course of his distinguished career.
