The defender made his 13th top flight appearance of the season and was delighted after the game that the side at the end of the afternoon’s entertainment were the first not to concede against City in this Premier League season.
“I think it was a good game, we fought really hard, worked hard and gave a good performance.
“Obviously, they have good qualities, they have good players. We were aware of that and we did well today. I’m happy with the team today.”
Since his loan started in August he has worked hard in south London to continually improve his game and believes that even though he says he has a lot to learn, he is going in the right direction.
“I’m happy with the way I played today. I have a lot to learn, I learn everyday on the training pitch with the manager, Ray (Lewington) and Reidy (Steven Reid). I’m just developing and it’s up to the fans to say if it’s my best performance.
“We work hard on our shape on the training pitch, they train us how to be tight, to press, how to stop the crosses. I think we are doing well. There is always room for improvement but you can see we are going in the right direction."
The late penalty miss by Luka Milivojevic was a disappointment for the home contingent in the sell-out crowd but the ovation the Eagles received from their fans showed how much the point meant but now attention soon turns to Tuesday’s match down at Southampton, who are just a point ahead of Roy Hodgson’s side.
“Obviously, if we score the penalty we would have two more points but Luka was great today and I think the whole team did really well. I’m happy with the performance and the good result.
“Now we all have to just rest as long as we can and prepare properly because the game is soon around the corner.”
