The Eagles goalkeeper received a standing ovation from the Palace fans inside Old Trafford at the conclusion of the contest and put him in as a firm favourite for the man of the match award.
“It was a massive result, obviously results have not gone our way recently but a point at Old Trafford is fantastic and maybe we should have got the three but we are happy with what we have got.
“The whole back four today were great, the lads put their bodies on the line and that’s what we needed so fantastic credit to all the side,” said Hennessey as he spoke to Palace TV after the match.
The Wales international was pleased how the side came through a tough away day in a game which Palace had 13 shots, their most in an away Premier League game this season.
“Their style is getting the ball wide and putting it in the box and with someone like Lukaku who is so good in the air and then add to that (Marouane) Fellaini who gives them a different aspect, sort of route one football which makes it difficult for us but we coped with it very well today,” Hennessey reflected as he looked back on a clean sheet for himself between the sticks.
“I just want as many clean sheets as possible and hopefully I can start on building on what I have got today and if we take our own chances we can take the extra two points.”
Before returning south the 31 year-old wanted to pay tribute to the support the side received from the large contingent of Palace supporters who were non-stop with their support from the first whistle to the end.
“They were superb through the whole game from minute one, it’s a delight to have fans like that and let’s hope we can start winning at Selhurst and get the supporters on our side because they have been superb. We can’t thank the fans enough.”
