Sullay Kaikai took his place in a Premier League game for the first time this season when he was introduced as a 67th minute substitute in the defeat at Old Trafford against Manchester United.
By that point of the game the side were two goals behind and it was a display that the 21 year old midfieilder refelected on with disappointment.
"It was not typical of our usual performance in terms of energy and drive and at times we could have done a bit better. We did well in the second half and kept a clean sheet but overall it’s a frustrating result for us and we now need to look at coming back after the summer break and be ready to go again."
The first half of his season was spent on loan at Brentford before playing for Palace in their FA Cup tie against Bolton Wanderers in January but the youngster was delighted to be given the chance to take his place at Old Trafford.
"It’s a special moment in my career and a great stage to play on and I am delighted to have been given the chance by the gaffer and the staff to give me that opportunity."
He now looks forward to a pre-season programme that he hopes will prepare him for more first team opportunities building on this top flight appearance.
"I felt I did alright but personally I know I could have done more, I am just ready to come back hungry for next season. I will do some work over the summer and be as fit and sharp as I can.
"It has been a good learning experience having the opportunity to train with these guys everyday and I have also had the chance to watch from the bench which has proved good for me so I have been able to take a lot on board and that can only be a benefit for me."
