Barely two-and-a-half days separate kick-offs between last night's clash with Spurs and Saturday's test against the Magpies, and so the Senegalese midfielder was insistent that his side's main priority now is to turn attention to their forthcoming fixture and prepare themselves as rapidly as possible.
But it can't be said that last night's game didn't showcase a determined defensive performance for Palace, and Kouyate was keen to praise the Eagles' organisation also.
He said: "I'm disappointed about losing because it was possible to take some points today but we lost this game. We had good organisation in the first half and the beginning of the second half. But after the Tottenham goal the game became very difficult. We lost this game and that's very, very difficult for the team. We need to forget this game and focus on Saturday's game.
"We had good organisation. [But for the first goal] we lost the ball and lost the organisation and the goal came. This is football sometimes. We need to continue to work hard and prepare for the next game.
"We came here to come win so points but we lost. We need to forget this game."
