Goals within two minutes of each other just before the half hour mark set Town fans celebrating but Loftus-Cheek said from a Palace perspective it was just the type of goals you don’t want to be conceding.
“Two goals we don’t want to be conceding, we see in games how important set pieces can be. Concentration is so important throughout the match and we need to learn from what has happened to us in this one."
David Wagner’s side head the Premier League table after the opening round of games and Loftus-Cheek was not surprised at what the The Eagles came up against.
“We knew what to expect from Huddersfield Town, a newly promoted team coming up from the Championship and on the opening day they would want to make a statement and we needed to match them but it wasn’t to be today. We must pick ourselves up and go again.”
Coming out for the second half the midfielder’s went into a deeper role and he explained that in the first half he struggled to get into the game and couldn't create chances but a lesson learnt for the side when the opportunities come along at this level they need to be converted.
“I am comfortable in both positions I played in today, in the first half I wasn’t really getting the ball to feet so it was hard for me to be creating chances and then I moved later in the game but where I play doesn’t really matter as I just to give 100% and I go again in the next game.
“In games you don’t get a lot of chances and when they do come along you have to be clinical and execute them. Looking back on the game we certainly had opportunities to get back into it and the goalkeeper made a great save from a Benteke header but as I say it just wasn’t our day today."
