When Yohan Cabaye was substituted at half time, Milivojevic was given the captain’s armband and he led by example with a fine display which culminated in scoring the winner against Southampton to put behind him the disappointment of New Year’s Eve.
"I have to be honest I haven’t slept the last couple of nights as it was very difficult for me to take after missing the penalty against Manchester City in the last minute. But thanks to god our team win tonight, I score, and we get the points."
"We played very well, a good team performance and showed great character to produce the result, which is massive one for us."
The midfielder covered 11.9km during the game, which follows an impressive 12.24km against City two days prior.
Speaking minutes after the final whistle to Palace TV, Milivojevic was quick to praise the squad’s never-say-die spirit, but is looking forward to some much needed recovery time.
“Not for the first time this season we showed great character and played until the end, never giving up so we are happy and satisfied with this result and now have some rest time ahead of us. It has been a quick turnaround with only one day in between the games so it was very hard to recover after the City game but now we have some time before our next match."
