“I think in the first half we didn’t play as we would have liked but still created enough chances to have scored in that period. They are a top team and played good football today and I am sure I am right in saying that from the first shot they had, they scored, which gave them a lot of confidence.
“We tried to change things in the second half and for the first 20 minutes were very good from our side and then we score and are at 1-1 but soon after they scored another two so it was hard to come back from that.”
The Eagles captain realises that the way the fixtures have fallen means the side are going through a difficult run of games but knows that if the squad show the belief in their own qualities that it will not be long before results start to turn around.
“It is a tough run because we are playing the top teams at the moment and the next two will be as difficult as those we have just played but we need to go into the matches game by game and the next one is against Tottenham, which we know will be another tough one but it will also not be an easy one for them because we will be desperate to try and take points from that game.
“We need to have more belief in ourselves because we do have a good squad with quality players and have shown since the beginning of the season we can play the type of football you need to play at this level. We know we have lost many points, that’s obvious and we don’t need anyone to tell us that but we need to try to have that believe we can take points from the games coming up.”
