The match was decided by Chris Wood taking full advantage of a poor back pass in the opening minutes but from then on the Palace side created countless chances without seeing one of them getting them back into the match.
“It is a result that is very difficult to take, we got punished for one mistake but then had chances to at least come away with a point and on another day could probably have taken all three points." The disappointed Eagles captain said as he reflected after the game on the loss.
“It is a not an easy place to come to but I think anyone who saw our performance would agree that in this game there was a massive improvement in our performance and we created enough chances to get the three points and we leave disappointed to be going away with nothing to show for our efforts.”
Despite the poor start to the season, results wise, the skipper knows that there was plenty to take with them as they moved on from a frustrating afternoon in the north-west.
“The belief and character that the lads showed today is a big positive to take away from the game and we did keep pushing for the goal and on another day one of those chances goes in but we must now get back onto the training pitch and work towards our next game against Southampton in a week’s time.”
