Patrick Van Aanholt spoke on behalf of a defensive unit that even though the visitors had the better chances they suffered a cruel blow to concede so late.
“We were right in the game until the end and then lost in the 88th minute, concede a corner and they score at the back post. We are very disappointed but we have to move on now.
“We were very good defensively today and didn’t create much up front but we were solid at the back and defended like a team but in the end we still lost."
Patrick was full of admiration for debutant Aaron Wan-Bissaka and felt his performance was the pick of those on show at Selhurst Park.
"He is a very good young player but he has to be patient and wait for his chances because he is very good and talented but he did very well today, I think for his first game against Tottenham he was man of the match for me."
After this derby defeat the side now return to the training ground to prepare for next Monday’s game against Manchester United.
“Every game in the Premier League is tough but it is just how you approach them, we’ve trained the whole week very good for this game and I think we did well defensively as a team but unluckily we have lost and now we move on ready to play Man Utd.”
