Zaha returned to the starting line-up after missing one match with a groin injury and he was delighted to be back not only with a goal but for a vital three points.
“I am happy to score coming back from injury and that we managed to win, that is the main thing and it’s a nice away victory for the team. I just had one thing on my mind when I went on the run, if I get the chance I will take it as prior to that we hadn’t many shots so I thought I would just connect and hopefully I would score.
“It’s about the end product and I made sure I got the right connection on it and thankfully it went in.”
25 year old Zaha was always confident that he would make the match even though he only returned to training on Thursday following his absence.
"For me personally I didn’t think it was that bad really, at first I couldn’t really move too well because it was sore but after a couple of days I felt better so began to think that I could be back for this game. In my head I was completely sure I would be ok to play today but obviously the physio has got to be sure but me personally I knew I would be ready.".
When he was missing from the defeat against Southampton the subject once again came up about the club’s record when Zaha is missing from the line-up but the Palace winger is quick to make the point that he needs the overall contribution around him to make the impact that he always hopes to have on the team’s performance.
“We are a team and without them they wouldn’t allow me to do what I do. That stat doesn’t play on my mind and I just get on to the pitch, we work as a team and if I manage to score than that's what happens.
“It was a massive result because before you know it when you lose one you go into the next week feeling sorry for yourselves but we managed to get the win today so that is good.”
