The wingers goal, which gave Palace the lead should have seen them take all three points. But, a goal from Oumar Niasse levelled the tie and that’s how it stayed meaning it was a frustrating end to the match for the winger, in a game that the Eagles played well enough to have won.
“I feel like we battered them but we just have to be clinical. You can’t play that well and not finish teams off. It feels like a game lost to me to be honest, but we will take a point.
Palace were on the end of a contentious penalty decision. Niasse went down after seemingly minimal contact from Scott Dann. The resulting spot kick was put-away by Leighton Baines and the Ivory Coast international thought the decision was harsh on the home side.
“We shouldn’t give the referee that opportunity to give them a pen to be honest, it was definitely soft but we just have to carry on.
“The main thing is that we didn’t lose because that would have killed a lot of people’s confidence today. So picking up points every game is going to be a big thing for us. We just need to move on to the next game.”
