An awful afternoon comes to an end on the south coast.

Closing in on full-time.

Will Hughes replaces Kamada for the final ten minutes or so...

...but it's well defended from Brighton.

The Eagles haven't been able to make the most of the set-piece opportunities this afternoon.

Lovely interplay from Nketiah and McNeil, with the latter laying on a pass for Mateta.

The French forward rattles the crossbar from a few yards out. Our best move of the

Mateta and Nketiah are coming on. Off go Pino and Strand Larsen.

Brighton have a fourth.

It's pinball in the area and Kostoulas reacts quickly to slide the ball past Benítez.

First change of the afternoon for Palace here. Dwight McNeil replaces Quinten Timber.

Stranger things have happened in football, but this feels like a long way back for Palace.

They were unfortunate to concede a remarkable strike from Gomez. But in truth they couldn't cope in the first ten minutes.

Let's see if Sage makes any changes for the second 45.

We need a regroup. Only seconds away from half-time now. Two minutes were added on.

If we do see some changes at the break, Nketiah may well be called upon. Mingueza was also getting warm before returning to the dugout.

Fantastic support as ever this afternoon.

Brighton nearly get in again, but Mitchell is fouled at the back post and Palace can clear.

Just need a stable ten minutes to get a foot in the game.

It's hard to know where to begin after that first ten minutes.

Khalaili did have an effort saved by Verbruggen not long after the third. But in truth Palace have been left completely stunned.

The one positive (if there is one) is that there's plenty of time on the clock.

Disaster. Brighton have a third.

The blue shirts have cut through Palace's defence on a rapid transition, before the ball is cut back for Yasin Ayari to slam home.

Brighton a two up. Gomez has hit an unbelievable strike from the halfway line.

Benítez can't get back in time and it flies straight into the goal. 2-0. Palace are shellshocked.

Oh dear, it's a dreadful start.

Brighton win a free-kick out wide and Gross's dangerous delivery flies in, taking a slight nick off Jaydee Canvot on the way through.

An early blow for Palace here.

Palace are defending the end housing the travelling supporters in the first-half.

The game kicks-off in torrential rainfall...

One final huddle from the lads and then we'll be underway.

COME ON YOU PALACE!!!

.... rings out from the away end, which is now filling up nicely.

I can see plenty of inflatable trophies on display, lovely touch.

Some decent finishing on show from Pino and Strand Larsen as the Palace players get warm before today's huge game.

And get warm they need to.... it's a very chilly afternoon on the south coast. The first half-time Bovril of the season may well be needed at the break!

Jørgen Strand Larsen has been speaking to Sky Sports before today's game...

"We're not thinking about them. We're thinking about ourselves.

"My first game for Palace last season was here and we got a win. That's what we're going to try and do.

"It's a massive game for the club."

Robert Jones is today's referee. Both games he has officiated involving Palace in 2026 have ended in defeat.

The most recent was a 3-0 loss against Bournemouth back in May.

Timothy Wood and Bhupinder Gill are assistant referees while Sam Barrott is the fourth official.

Paul Howard is in charge of the VAR.

Here is how the hosts line-up this afternoon....

Brighton XI: Verbruggen, Boscagli, Vuskovic, Dunk, De Cuyper, Ayari, Kadioglu, Andres, Gomez, Gross, Kostoulas.

Subs: Steele, Hadjam, Svobada, Hinshelwood, Yalcouye, Costinha, O'Riley, Osman, Rutter.

That's seven changes from their last game, a 4-0 win over Kauno Zalgiris at the Amex Stadium on Thursday in the UEFA Conference League.

A warm welcome from the Amex Stadium where we're getting ready for Palace's trip to Brighton & Hove Albion.

Always a fixture to look out for, the Eagles will be going for a third straight win on this ground and our seventh win overall since it first opened.

We'll have team news shortly, the best of the build-up and bring you live coverage throughout the day.

The big games just keep coming don't they?

COME ON YOU PALACE!!!
