Playing for a season with then-Premier League club Cardiff City, Camarasa will be recognisable to Palace fans, but for those who haven’t followed his progress too closely, the 25-year-old explained how he will likely fit in as part of Roy Hodgson’s squad.
“I can play in all parts of the midfield,” he said. “Behind the striker, on the left, on the right, I can play in different positions so I don’t mind. I prefer midfield, in behind the striker but I’m comfortable in all [midfield positions].”
Typically, Camarasa has been utilised in a box-to-box role but was at times relied on to cover Cardiff’s back four with injuries to Aron Gunnarsson in the last campaign.
Earning Players’ Player of the Year at Cardiff and Goal of the Season for his eye-catching effort against Leicester City, Camarasa certainly enjoyed a successful spell in the English top-flight last season and explained what it is about Premier League football which has attracted him back.
“Last year was a nice year. The Premier League is one of the best leagues in the world and I enjoyed last year a lot. I think it’s a really good opportunity for me to be here.
“I think it’s a complete football [in England]. You have great players in the league, the fans are crazy for their football. I think the Premier League has everything for the life of football.”
