The Eagles’ Temporal Player of the Month for September has excelled in the early weeks of the 2026/27 campaign, scoring twice in a 3-2 win at Fulham and even hitting the back of the net at Leeds United – what would have been the winner, were it not for a VAR review.
And with Nottingham Forest the visitors to Selhurst Park this afternoon (14:00 BST kick-off), Mitchell wants to pick that form straight up again.
“Everyone's missed the Premier League,” the full-back beamed. “I’m happy that the international break is over, and we get to go out there again and try to get three points.
“It came at a time where we felt that we were getting better defensively, getting better going forward. It wasn't the best timing, but we still had time to work on the ideas that the Manager wanted, so we could take the good and the bad from the international break.
“I think [this season has] been in different ways good and bad. We knew it was going to be difficult with a new manager, getting ideas across and trying to work on it in pre-season and then understand it before the start of the season.
“But like every team that has a new manager, sometimes it takes a little adjusting period – and I feel like the team are now adjusting at a decent rate.”
